Standing By Faith

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 10:12

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!

O-bservation:

St. Paul was writing to the young church at Corinth, which had become a bit weary in their new faith. There was sin in the church. They were questioning Paul’s authority as an Apostle. And they were not as excited as they had been at first. Paul warned them, by reminding them of Israel’s history, not to think that any of us can do this on our own. He cautioned them to be alert at times when they think they have it together. That’s often the time people fall the hardest.

A-pplication:

From my limited vantage point, it seems like an easy call. If any of us cease “Standing By Faith” and just try to “Stand Firm,” we will fail. Any time we try to “Stand Firm,” it’s a result of us doing the standing. However, if we are actually “Standing By Faith” we are relying on the Lord to keep us standing. I’ve spoken with so many friends through the years that after falling morally, or getting messed up in some financial scheme, or doing something crazy, have all said … “I thought I could handle it!” That’s where the mistake is made. The Apostle said … “I know that good itself does not dwell in me!” (Rom. 7:18). So here’s a simple reminder, be careful don’t fall. How do we do that? Give up “Standing Firm” and determine that you will live … “Standing By Faith.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

With Your help this AM, I will move toward my mission of “Standing By Faith” in You alone! Amen

We must learn to trust in God and to always stand on His word. We can not lean to our own understanding.
