Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Kings 22:8
The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”
O-bservation:
The wicked King Ahab of Israel went to King Jehoshaphat of Judah and asked him if he would help him fight against the people of Aram and take back territory that belonged to the Israelites. Jehoshaphat said he would be willing, but wanted Ahab to ask the Lord what they should do. Ahab brought 400 Prophets to Jehoshaphat and they all said, “Yes it is the will of God to fight the people of Aram!” But Jehoshaphat said to Ahab, “Don’t you have just one prophet who can tell us what God’s will is, instead of a whole host of prophets?” King Ahab said, “Yes I do, his name is Micaiah, but I hate him because he only prophesies against me. He never prophesies good things just bad things.”
A-pplication:
Sometimes you need a true man or woman of God who speaks sense to you when everyone else has gathered around you to just say “YES” to any and all of your ideas. Micaiah was that man for Ahab, but the devil in Ahab hated the Lord God of Israel in Micaiah. Micaiah could never be swayed to speak fineries to King Ahab. Nor would he bow to the pressure of his peers to simply agree with whatever the King wanted! This word is not just for Kings today, but here it is: “Sometimes You Need More Than Just ‘YES’ People Around You!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me this AM to hear Your voice through whomever you may send my way today. And may I say thank you should they say NO to any of my requests. I need more than just YES people around me! Amen
