The Servant Leader’s Mission

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Timothy 4:5

But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

O-bservation:

Timothy was a disciple of the Apostle Paul. As “Followers of Jesus” we’re all called to a form of leadership that is SERVICE based. Here Paul told Timothy his Mission as a “Servant Leader.” Never lose control, be willing to sacrifice, always promote Jesus wherever you go, and finish the job you set out to do. This is … “The Servant Leader’s Mission.”

A-pplication:

I can’t tell you the number of bosses I had when I was in high school and college who would “fly off the handle” at the drop of a hat. Many of them never learned as leaders to keep their cool in the most troubling of times. Still others were always making their underlings do the hard stuff. For them, it was totally a top down management approach. Hard work and sacrifice were tasks for the lowest paying jobs. I knew my mission as a “Servant Leader” was to always promote Jesus in every situation. However, this infuriated a couple of my bosses and they would tell me to keep my “RELIGION” to myself. Perhaps the most irritating thing about some of these “Leaders” was that they never seemed to complete the day’s assigned tasks. Some of them just couldn’t FINISH. What was their challenge? I think their biggest challenge was that they didn’t know Jesus. It’s easier as a “Follower of Jesus” to be a “Servant Leader” than it is for others, because we know that Jesus taught it and promoted the idea that the more you serve others the more elevated you become in the kingdom of God. I know it sounds redundant but, “The Servant Leader’s Mission,” is … TO SERVE!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Right off the bat this AM, I’m asking You to stop me from walking out of my front door if I’m going to make this day about ME. I know I’ve been placed on this planet to serve others! Amen
