Remembered As Servant Leaders

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

1 Thessalonians 1:3

We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

In his first letter to the Church at Thessalonica, St. Paul let them know how they were remembered by Paul’s Team. He said, “you have a huge work ethic motivated by your FAITH.” He also let them know that their continual labor was indeed a labor of LOVE, and that their endurance was inspired by HOPE. Most important, their Faith, Hope, and Love was all because of Jesus.

As a pastor and church leader, I know first-hand that it’s impossible to pay everyone in cash money to do the work of Jesus. There’s two reasons I say that. First, there’s just NOT enough MONEY! Second, our service unto Jesus is a labor of love for our wonderful Lord. Oftentimes you can trust a volunteer sooner than you can trust a hireling. That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t get paid to work in the Lord’s service, but the ones who do usually get paid less than they would in the marketplace. It’s doubtful anyone got paid at all in Thessalonica, and because of it the Gospel spread quickly. It still spreads quickly when people want to be, “Remembered as Servant Leaders.”

Dear Jesus,

After all these years, I don’t want to be remembered as a professional minister. What I want is to be “Remembered As A Servant Leader.” Amen
