Pray For Mercy

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Romans 9:16

It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.

O-bservation:

In this chapter, St. Paul addressed the issue of God’s sovereignty. It’s not a matter of humans turning the heart of God one way or another. God is not an object to be used by humans. On the contrary, humankind is totally dependent on the Almighty for air itself. Everything boils down to the “Mercy of God” and who He chooses to show His mercy to.

A-pplication:

Some may cry … “This is unfair and unjust!” But if you really think about it, this would be like an Ant telling the Mayor of New York it’s unfair to build the new “Freedom Tower” on top of his “Ant House.” This thing called pride, and the idea that we mortals are in any way self-sufficient, is laughable in the eyes of God. We are the “Creation” not the “Creator.” We have one option, one mission, one direction, one purpose, one dream, one daily wake-up call … “Pray For Mercy!” That’s it!! Once there is total assurance in your heart and mine that outside of Jesus we are completely void of even an ounce of hope, life begins to open up to us. Our ability to love, honor, serve, lead, pray, and do it all over again and again becomes liberating and purposeful, and our “Thanks-O-Meter” to our God soars. With this in mind, there’s only one thing to do … “Pray For Mercy!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Today, just like blind Bartimaeus of old, I want to say … “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me!” Amen
