Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
2 Chronicles 29:3
In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the Lord and repaired them.
Hezekiah is the man being discussed in the aforementioned verse. His father, Ahaz, had left Judah in ruins. The temple had not been used in many years. As soon as Hezekiah was anointed king over Judah, he opened wide the sanctuary doors of the temple and repaired them.
Any nation whose church doors are locked and the place is in disrepair will find its people in great disrepair as well. Judah had suffered much under the Kings leading up to Hezekiah, and the central reason was they forgot God. They made it about themselves. When man takes the place of God, where can he go to fix unfixable problems? Prevailing negative issues in any society, whether it be poverty, disease, or insurrection, all have a spiritual root. In order to fix such problems, there must be a spiritual answer. In Hezekiah’s life he only saw one solution … “Open The Doors” to the House of God. Let God back into the country and people back into God’s house. It worked in Hezekiah’s day, and it will work in our day too.
First of all this AM, I want to say that the door of my heart is always opened to You. With Your help I’ll keep the “Church Doors” opened as well. Amen
This is a great reminder that when I put God first, all things are added on to my life. All that I want is that His Kingdom come to make it well on Earth as it is in Heaven. I want to be obedient and do His good will. I appreciate the new sanctuary that has been built for the Lord and I am glad to be in the house of the Lord for always.
