No Pain-Free Promises

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Corinthians 8:21

For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.

O-bservation:

The “Great Apostle” was hard at work raising relief funds for the Judean Christians. At that time, Jerusalem and the surrounding areas were battling through a famine. Of course the Christians there seemed the most afflicted. Other regions, including Corinth, were being asked to give to meet the needs of their brothers and sisters. Paul said, “We’re taking ‘great pains’ to do this in the right way.”

A-pplication:

There’s usually a “Right Way” and “Wrong Way” to do things. When you do something right, you go to any length to be as fair and forthright as possible. Often times the last one you think of is yourself and what you will get out of it. At least this was the way Jesus operated. Even when Jesus offended someone (i.e. The Moneychangers In The Temple), it was to teach a higher and more righteous way of approaching God’s house. As “Followers of Jesus,” there are … “No Pain-Free Promises.” Every victory you experience, and there will be plenty, will come at a price. Why? Simply because you and I are determining “To do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

With Your help today, I want to do what is right in Your eyes and the eyes of those who are watching, in order to lift Your name high! Amen
