Keep Acting On Your Faith

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Kings 4:35

Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out on him once more. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.

O-bservation:

Years earlier, Elisha had prophesied that this Shunammite woman would have a son. The woman and her husband had built a room for the Prophet to stay in and the Prophet wanted to bless her. Sure enough, a year later the boy was born. Fast-forward about 12 years and one day while working in the field with his Father the boy evidently had a heat stroke and died. Elisha was far away, so the Shunammite woman raced on her animal with an employee to find him. When she found him, Elisha sent his servant Gehazi to run ahead with his staff and lay the staff on the boy. It didn’t work. When Elisha and the Shunammite woman arrived the boy was still dead. Elisha got up on the boy and breathed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in him but nothing happened. So Elisha walked around the room and got back up on the boy and did mouth to mouth resuscitation again and the boy sneezed seven times and came back to life!

A-pplication:

The power of this miracle is that Elisha just “Kept Acting On His Faith!” At first he had his associate take his staff back to lay it on the dead boy’s body while he and the woman followed behind. That didn’t work! So when he arrived and found the boy still dead, he got up on the boy’s body and gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. That didn’t work either. But he didn’t quit. A second time he got up on the boy’s body and gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and this time the boy came back to life! “Keep Acting On Your Faith.” When all else fails, don’t give up whatever you do! Try something else or a do the same thing again and again. But … “Keep Acting On Faith!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I will pledge to You that I won’t give up today. With Your help I WILL … “Keep Acting On My Faith!” Amen
