Jesus Sees Stuff

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 21:1-2

As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.

O-bservation:

While observing people coming into the temple and dropping their donations into a bucket, Jesus noticed two unique types of GIVERS. One type of giver represented a group of WEALTHY FOLKS; the other was a single POOR WIDOW. The point is … “Jesus Sees Stuff.”

A-pplication:

Later in this chapter Jesus said, “The rich folks gave out of their wealth but the poor widow gave everything she had.” The question we must ask ourselves is … “Does my giving to the Lord ‘Cost Me’ something?” When I say, “Cost Me,” I realize that a “Pack of Gum” cost me something, but it doesn’t really “Cost Me.” The wealthy folks gave out of their wealth. Maybe they were giving a “Pack of Gum” in comparison to what they had. The poor widow gave ALL SHE HAD. In other words, she threw her complete trust in God into that offering bucket that day. It was ALL SHE HAD. Now please don’t start feeling guilty and think … “That lousy Rich Wilkerson, he’s preaching at me!” Here’s the truth … I’m preaching to myself this AM. I’m tired of making excuses because … “Jesus Sees Stuff!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m not sure You want me to drop ALL I HAVE into the offering bucket on Sunday. However I do know You want me to drop my complete trust in You in that bucket. And I won’t start on Sunday; it starts right now! Amen
