I Wonder What We’re Missing?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Exodus 31:15

For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death.

O-bservation:

The observation this AM is WOW! In the Old Covenant the Jewish people were to obey the Sabbath and keep it holy, or DIE!

A-pplication:

I’ve read this passage more times than I can count, but this AM it hit me hard. Instead of judging the passage, my first thought was, “I Wonder What We’re Missing?” In other words, being in holy communion with God for a whole day was so important that anyone who broke it was to be put to death. Thankfully we live under the New Covenant of grace. Yet, what would happen if each and every one of us had a true weekly Sabbath for one whole day, just us and God. What would happen in our life with stress, worry, fear, insecurity, insignificance, and war? Maybe that stuff would just be gone. “I Wonder What We’re Missing?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m silenced this AM. I’ve tried all my life to have a one-day, weekly Sabbath. Help me Lord. I’d like to find out what I’m missing. Amen
