Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Revelation 20:15

Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

O-bservation:

The writer of the book of Revelation had a vision of heaven, and in this instance of … “The Great White Throne of Judgment.” At the “End of the age,” if a person’s name is not found written in the “Book of Life” they will be sent into the “Lake of Fire.”

A-pplication:

The word “HELL,” or “Sheol” (Hebrew for Hell), occurs 31 times in the Old Testament. Jesus himself mentioned “HELL” or Eternal Destruction 46 times in the New Testament. Whenever I even hear the word “HELL,” I’m troubled. But “Followers of Jesus” are very much aware that our mission is to reach people for Christ so HELL will never be their eternal lodging place. When we talk about humankind’s need for Grace, it’s so that people presently headed in a direction leading to HELL will be rescued and snatched from that final destination. This is a topic that most of us DO NOT want to discuss. However, it is a fact that it is mentioned throughout both Old and New Testaments. We must not run from this discussion. I’ve heard it said … “We all want to go to heaven but not today!” Truly all of us are apprehensive when it comes to dying before we can arrive anywhere, but let me say, “None of us want to go to ‘HELL!” Today or any other day!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am so thankful this AM that because of Your sacrifice on the cross Your GRACE to me is free, but certainly not cheap! I’m so grateful that my eternal destination has been set because of this GRACE! Amen

I am sure that, even when my best work is a filthy rag in the eyes of a Holy God, I will not see hell because of Christ death for my sake. I claim His righteousness to be mine by His eminent Grace.
