Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
For zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.
King David had certainly spent the last quarter of his life CONSUMED by building a temple for the Lord. Finally, after designing the plans, the Lord spoke to him and said, “You have too much blood on your hands from all the wars you’ve fought, so I’ll have your son Solomon build it for me.” David then raised all the money it would take to build it and died. The idea of building a home for the Lord consumed David to the point that whenever God was cursed or spoken evil of, David took it personally.
Can you imagine being so consumed with building a temple for the Lord that you felt like you were His one and only emissary here on earth? That’s how much David loved the house of the Lord. He believed that anyone who was planted in the house of the Lord would flourish in this life (Ps. 92:13). When we read the Psalms, we see a man so fully engaged in the Lord, as in loving the Lord, worshipping, praising, and serving the Lord in every capacity, that it would appear David had no other interest. Of course, he was a warrior and a singer and a musician and poet, but most of all He was consumed with all things GOD! In today’s world, we are pulled in so many directions that the foundation for living a life like David lived is to be planted in the house of the Lord. It all hinges on how you answer this question. “Do You Love His House?”
I love Your house. I love You. I love Your people. All of them. I want to please You. I know it all begins in Your house. Amen
