S-cripture:

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

O-bservation:

In closing his letter to the church at Ephesus, St. Paul had a straightforward command to all fathers. He said, “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

A-pplication:

The word “EXASPERATE” means to make angry, to annoy, or to stir up strife. This kind of activity from a father to a child is strictly forbidden in the New Testament. Yet fathers, be they biological fathers, stepfathers, or foster fathers today, are evidently not listening because what we are seeing is a generation of angry young men. When I dig into a young man’s life who comes to me for help, so often, the conversation moves to the father he was dealt. I know that a person who has bad fathering as an example often lacks in his future fathering skills. This is also true for little girls who need a loving, embracing father who only wants the best for his daughter. If you are a father today, grab your Bible and live in it until you see Jesus someday. God’s Word can make up for what you may have missed from your father. Please, please, please hear this! “Dads, Are You Listening?”

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for giving me the greatest father a young man could have asked for. Help me be an example for children who need someone to love and care for them is my prayer. Amen
