S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Acts 17:15
Those who escorted Paul brought him to Athens and then left with instructions for Silas and Timothy to join him as soon as possible.
O-bservation:
Paul, Silas, and Timothy had been preaching and teaching about Jesus in a city called Berea. Many of the people in that town had become “Followers of Jesus” as a result of the three men’s ministry. Yet Paul was considered a radical by some, so Jewish religious leaders sent people from Thessalonica into Berea to stir up trouble. Other “Followers of Jesus” immediately whisked St. Paul out of there and into Athens. Why? Well St. Paul would have answered … “Can’t Stop ‘Talking Bout’ JESUS!”
A-pplication:
Jesus said, “He who is forgiven much, loves much” (Luke 7:47, paraphrase). St. Paul had been forgiven of so much evil doing by Jesus, that once he left that “old life” behind he just couldn’t stop talking about Jesus. For Paul, Salvation was much more than a new “Lease on Life,” it was a “NEW LIFE!” He couldn’t get enough of Jesus, and because he was so full of Jesus he couldn’t stop talking about Him. He was placed in Athens, Greece for his own protection. But almost immediately upon arriving there, he began preaching the “Good News of Jesus” to probably his toughest crowd to date. However, people still came to Jesus. True “Followers of Jesus” just “Can’t Stop ‘Talking Bout’ Jesus!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I want my first thought each AM to be Jesus. I also want my last thought to be about Jesus, and everything in between too. I want what is in me to overflow to people who need Jesus. Amen
