Beyond Our Reach?
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 37:23
The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.
O-bservation:
These are the words of young Elihu, a man who had come near Job in Job’s hour of great duress. Job had blamed God for being unfair to him. This young man said our God is “Beyond Our Reach,” and that He is exalted in great power.
A-pplication:
Is God “Beyond Our Reach?” That’s a tough question because living in such a contemporary time in history, and as “Followers of Jesus” who we believe is our mediator between us and God, we would probably say NO! Yet consider the time in which Elihu, Job’s young friend, was living and speaking. Theologians tell us that Job is the oldest book in the Bible. This book predates the prophets, and certainly the coming of Jesus to the earth. So in his desperation Elihu knew that God was real, but couldn’t fathom being able to communicate with Him or reach Him. I’m thankful, as I’m sure you are, that our God is in no way unreachable to us. Certainly, we are more enlightened, and communication is eons in front of where Elihu was when he lived. But if you’re wondering if we can reach Jesus today, wonder no more. He’s as close as the mention of His name.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I’m thankful that I can reach You through prayer. I’m thankful that You have told me to call upon You and that You will answer me. I will, I promise. Amen
