Without Defect

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Leviticus 3:1

If your offering is a fellowship offering, and you offer an animal from the herd, whether male or female, you are to present before the Lord an animal without defect.

O-bservation:

The book of Leviticus is filled with the laws and precepts of the Jewish faith and how to appropriate each of them. The writer tells us that whether it’s a male or female from the herd, one must offer an animal “Without Defect.”

A-pplication:

The Old Testament laws were all about making God first in one’s life with first-fruit offerings. Not only was God to be FIRST, but He was also to be given only the best gifts a person had to offer. Let’s bring this passage into the twenty-first-century church. God should never stand behind one’s mortgage payment, car payment, visa payment, investment payment, or any bill. God’s tithe should be paid first before any other bill an individual in the church has. Instead of cleaning out one’s closet and dumping it at the church, perhaps one should go shopping and bring the same size clothes they wear and give them to the church clothing center for the disenfranchised. God should only be given that which is “Without Defect.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I want to be a servant who brings you the best. Help me never to offer you a broken legged animal or old used ANYTHING. I want to bring you gifts “Without Blemish.” Amen
