Keep on Knocking

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 12:16

But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

O-bservation:

This is the story of Peter being thrown into prison by King Herod. But while he was in prison, the church held a prayer meeting for his freedom. An angel came to the prison house and led him out in the middle of the night. When Peter was finally safely out, the angel disappeared, and Peter headed for Mary’s house. She was the mother of young John Mark, and her home was where the prayer meeting was being held. When he knocked on the door, a young girl named Rhoda opened the door and closed it, and went to tell the people praying. They said that couldn’t be and kept on praying. The Bible says here that Peter just “Kept On Knocking!”

A-pplication:

Life has ways of surprising us on a fairly regular basis. We see here the church was praying for Peter’s release from prison. God heard their prayer and released him. When Peter went to the home where the church was praying and knocked on the door, the church folks didn’t believe it was him. They said it must be an angel and went back to praying. But Peter kept on knocking until the folks realized God had answered their prayer. When you’re at the door of your deliverance, and no one answers because they don’t really believe it’s you, “Keep On Knocking.” In time God will surely have someone open it.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Please help me today to “Keep On Knocking” until the door opens. I know there’s a miracle on the other side. Amen
