Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 7:27

But we know where this man is from; when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.

O-bservation:

These religious Jews were sure they knew where Jesus was from. But remember, just one chapter before, Jesus had said, “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will, but the will of him who sent me” (Jn. 6:38). Jesus had already told them where he was from. But they didn’t believe that. They were sure he was the little boy who had grown up in Nazareth. They were looking for the Messiah, and they were convinced they wouldn’t know where he was from. So when they heard Jesus, they judged that he wasn’t the Messiah because “They THOUGHT They Knew.”

A-pplication:

These people were guilty of assuming they knew who Jesus was. Whenever you make decisions based on personal assumptions, you will be wrong most of the time. Those who reject Jesus as Lord, “Think They Know He’s Not!” But the truth is, Jesus is the true and only Messiah there ever was or is. He fulfilled all of the Old Testament prophecies that spoke of the coming Messiah, and those who say he wasn’t can’t tell you who the Messiah will be or when he’s coming. Now this Jesus, after his crucifixion and resurrection from the grave, was visibly seen by over 500 people over a 40-day period (1 Cor. 15:6). Then, just before Pentecost in Acts 1:9, His disciples watched Him ascend off the Mount of Olives into heaven. Of the 12 apostles there, eleven of them (many believe the new Apostle, Mathias, was beheaded in the streets of Jerusalem) died a martyr’s death for what they believed. Why would they give up their lives for a lie? They saw Him go to heaven!! Make sure you are never numbered with people who live by their own assumptions. “They THINK They Know”

Dear Jesus,

I actually know in whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that you are able to keep me until I see you face to face! I know I know that! Amen
