S-cripture:
1 Samuel 15:33b
And Samuel put Agag to death before the Lord at Gilgal.
O-bservation:
The Lord, through the prophet Samuel, had commanded King Saul to destroy all of the Amalekites including their king. Saul spared the life of King Agag. When Samuel found out he told him the Kingdom had been taken from him, then Samuel slew King Agag!
A-pplication:
Imagine the prophet and priest of Israel, Samuel, killing an enemy king. You would have thought that King Saul would have obeyed God, but instead he was afraid of what his people might think if he killed the enemy king. For that disobedience, Saul lost his kingdom. But Agag had still escaped death. Samuel, in a fit of righteous indignation, slew King Agag in front of all of the leaders of Israel. When the leader of the country is rebellious toward the living God, and is afraid to obey the command of the Lord, “Sometimes Only A Man of God Will do!” Samuel didn’t know who to trust anymore, so he took matters into his own hand and obeyed the Lord.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I want to be a Man of God who people can trust to stand for You. Help me be that man! Amen
