God’s Presence = God’s Blessing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Chronicles 13:14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.

O-bservation:

During the priestly reign of Eli, the Philistines took the Ark of God out of Israel after they had defeated the Israelis soundly. But after several months, the Ark of God created such trouble for the Philistines that they decided to give it back to the Israelis with gifts. During the reign of King Saul, the Ark remained in Baalah in Judah and not Jerusalem. When David became King, he decided to bring the Ark of God back to Jerusalem. Along the way there was a problem. David became fearful of moving it any further and decided to leave the Ark in the house of Obed-Edom for three months. During that time, the home of Obed-Edom was Blessed Abundantly!

A-pplication:

The Ark of the Covenant represented the Presence of God. If you touched it you would die (1 Samuel 6:1-7). If you looked upon it incorrectly you would die (1 Samuel 6:19). The sign to all of Israel was that God's presence is holy and unapproachable. But the rest of the story to the Israelis was that if God's presence (The Ark) is with you, you will be Blessed Abundantly. After several thousands of years nothing has changed, except we don't know where the Ark is. But we do have "The Comforter" with us (The Holy Spirit). And when God’s Spirit is with you, His PRESENCE is near. Remember ... "God's Presence = God's Blessing." Ask Him to stay near you today.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I am asking You to stay close to me and show me how I can get closer to You. Amen

Who’s With You?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Chronicles 11:9 And David became more and more powerful, because the Lord Almighty was with him.

O-bservation:

After King Saul's death, David became King over all of Israel. But it didn't happen overnight. At first, one of King Saul's sons, Ish-Boseth, became King over Israel while David remained King over Judah. Slowly but surely, Ish-Boseth's rule began to slip away from him and every day men from Israel fled to David's side. David became more and more powerful because God Almighty was with him.

A-pplication:

Seldom does a day go by that I don't hear someone speak on, or read something someone has written concerning "Building A TEAM." How to build a team. Key personnel to have on your team. When to use your team to launch your product. These are just a few subjects that draw a continual audience. As one reads of David's "Mighty Men," and eventually the massive army that he built, seldom does anyone mention that David had one "Team Member" who TRUMPED everyone and everything else. The Bible says, "David became more and more powerful, because God Almighty was with him." You can have the BEST personnel, but most of all you'd better have the CREATOR of your personnel ... God Almighty ... on your side.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I've told people my whole life that Jesus + Anybody = A Majority. Nothing has changed in my opinion. I'm so glad You're with me. Amen

God Is FAIR!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Chronicles 10:13,14 Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

O-bservation:

Saul died and his tenure as King of Israel ended, along with his line of successors, because of his continual disobedience towards the Lord. Instead of inquiring of the Lord, he looked to a witch for spiritual guidance. So God had him destroyed and put David in his place.

A-pplication:

We live in an age where everything of a divine nature is judged by we humans on earth on the basis of fairness. Is God fair? Was that fair? Do you think he should have done that? And, based upon my limited understanding of God, my answer would be ... "Are we serious? Really?" These questions of fairness are posed by we finite little people concerning an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-everywhere God. In Isaiah 55, God tells us that His thoughts are higher than ours and His ways are not our ways. The question should never be “Is God fair?” The question should be, “Why don’t humans obey?” And in our attempt to exonerate ourselves from our rebellious ways and put the blame on God instead, we actually prove our own "Spiritual Idiocy." Let's just hear it said by this not so smart person ... "God Is FAIR!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today I yield to Your higher thoughts and ways. I realize that because of my tendency to disobey, You must do the right thing for everyone involved. Help me to stay yielded to You! Amen

Always Stay Ahead Of The Game

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Samuel 18:9 And from that time on Saul kept a close eye on David.

O-bservation:

This statement was made after David, King Saul's young warrior, was being lauded as the one who killed his "Tens of Thousands," while Saul, the King, only killed his "Thousands." Consequently, King Saul was left in a place of insecurity.

A-pplication:

The truth is that Saul waited TOO long to start watching out for potential successors who would try to supplant him. It started way back when King Saul had gotten into a pattern of disobeying God. I suppose you could say he was just lazy in doing the "Will of God," or half-hearted in following through with "God's Commands." He was a man who often took the easy way out vs. the more difficult way out. He was especially concerned about whether he looked good in the process. When self-promotion, self-sufficiency, and self-service become one's sole purpose, it puts that person way behind on God's timetable for Success and a Blessed Legacy. King Saul lived for the moment. His questions may have been something like this: "How do I look right now? What do people think of me right now?" His failure to produce a future vision for Israel was his demise. "Heavenly Vision" takes one's eyes off of oneself and puts them on people and the "Means" to help others. "Heavenly Vision" will help you to … "Always Stay Ahead Of The Game."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I asked today that my eyes would be lifted off of me and on to the future. Help me get my eyes on Your "Harvest Field," and just let me be one of Your workers please. Amen

No More Forgiveness

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Samuel 15:35

Until the day Samuel died, he did not go to see Saul again, though Samuel mourned for him. And the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

O-bservation:

This is a sad commentary on the life of King Saul. In chapter 11 of this book, he was made King over Israel. In chapter 12, the Prophet Samuel scolded the people of Israel for having demanded a King. In chapter 13, Saul sinned by offering a burnt offering that was reserved only for Priests. In chapter 14, he made a decree that involved having his son Jonathan executed for a crime Jonathan didn't know was a crime. Consequently, no one in the country followed the King's decree and Jonathan's life was spared. Now, here in chapter 15, King Saul sinned by not having Agag, the King of the Amalekites, killed. Samuel had to do it and God regretted having made Saul King of Israel. Samuel never visited Saul again, though he prayed and mourned over him till the day he (Samuel) died.

A-pplication:

God wasn't suggesting that He (GOD) had made a mistake when He made Saul King. No! God regretted that Saul refused to change. Saul was so attractive and such a valiant warrior, but he refused to "Get It!" Someone once said, "Stupid Is as Stupid Does!" An earthly King is NOT God. He's just a man with authority, and when he continues to operate as God, in time, there's just ... "No More Forgiveness" for that. Eventually, we are all called to grow up and do the will of God. Thankfully today, because of Jesus, there is even GRACE for us "Hard Headed Folks."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I don't want to go my own way today. I want Your will to be my PURPOSE for living. Amen
