Happy Dad, Happy Family

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Chronicles 7:40a All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders.

O-bservation:

The Prophet Ezra is the writer of this book, and in recounting the Tribe of Asher he lists 4 qualities that the world is looking for in men today. The qualities of the "Men of Asher" were as follows: Patriarchal, the Best of the Best, Brave Warriors, and Outstanding Leaders.

A-pplication:

How does a family turn out so well? We know that Asher was the 8th son of Jacob, somewhere around 1920 (something) BC. We know Ezra wrote the first book of the Chronicles around 450 (something) BC. The name "Asher" means "HAPPY." We don't know why Jacob named his 8th son "HAPPY," after all he was the child of one of Jacob’s wives' handmaidens, Zilpah. But when he was born his Father said, “I'll name him ‘HAPPY!’" I know this ... good things come to HAPPY people. Just before Jacob died, he blessed his son Asher and said that he would be blessed with abundance and food befitting a King. Just before Moses died, he said that the tribe of Asher would be blessed with Prosperity. It's obvious that this man in history lived "HAPPY," and that way of approaching life produced men the world still longs for today! Here's the moral of the story ... "Happy DAD, Happy Family!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank You that You give all who ask You, the "Joy of the Lord." Thank You today that You gave me a "Happy Family." Amen

Spiritual Leadership

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Exodus 32:26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, “Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.” And all the Levites rallied to him.

O-bservation:

This is the story of Moses coming off of Mt. Sinai after receiving the Ten Commandments from the Lord and finding the people of Israel out of control. They had demanded that Aaron make them a god to worship since Moses had been gone so long. Aaron did, and it turned into a drunken orgy. When he saw what was going on, Moses broke the stone tablets in anger and finally said, “Whoever is on the Lord’s side, come to me!”

A-pplication:

Whenever there is a challenge in the work of the Lord, SOMEONE has to lead. In this desperate moment, when the devil had infiltrated the Israelites, Moses, upon hearing and seeing what had happened, went into action. He said, “If you are on the Lord’s side come by me.” In that moment, the House of Levi, the ministers of Israel, immediately ran to Moses' side. When Moses gave the directive, they abandoned their sin and raced back to Moses, their leader. When you don’t back down, the “Spiritual Leadership” will surround you to save the work of the Lord you represent, just like the Levites did for Moses.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I’m asking you today to keep my mind and heart pure so that I can do your service. I want to be a leader that people will follow to continue Your work, oh Lord. Amen

Decisions Decisions

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Exodus 28:15 Fashion a breastplate for making decisions - the work of skilled hands.

O-bservation:

In the directions God gave to Moses, he included what the priestly garments were to look like that his brother Aaron would wear. Here, God says, “Create a breastplate for “MAKING DECISIONS.”

A-pplication:

Godly leaders are always faced with “Decisions Decisions.” The truth is we teach that every believer is a leader. So, all of us are called to make decisions that will impact those we lead. In the Old Testament, the Chief Priest wore the breastplate for “making decisions,” signifying that his spiritual decisions were to guide them. However, in the New Testament, the Lord names the breastplate we wear as the Breastplate of Righteousness. In other words, when you leave the house today, make sure you have put on more than a name, but you have put on the action of RIGHTEOUSNESS in every decision you make.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM as I put on the breastplate of righteousness, help me remember that you will help me choose your way in every decision I make. Amen

You And I Need Help

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Exodus 18:17,18 Moses’s father-in-law replied, what you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you. You cannot handle it alone.

O-bservation:

Perhaps Moses’ father-in law Jethro, could be called one of the first mental health proponents in history. He observed his son-in-law Moses as he would sit all day listening to the problems of individual people and then passing judgement on them as to what they should do, and finally Jethro said, “This is not good! You’re only going to wear yourself out!” By this I believe he was saying, “You’re getting ready for a breakdown!”

A-pplication:

Have you ever felt over worked? Have you felt in your mind and body that you couldn’t take it another day? Many people feel this way but don’t ask anyone for help. Moses was just pushing through his near breakdown when thankfully his father-in-law gave him some advice. Moses implemented Jethro’s advice and carried on with a lighter load. If you will start by calling on the Lord today and then ask others around you, God will help you. I only say this because, “You And I Need Help!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank you this AM that through the years when I thought I couldn’t go another step you always sent someone to help lighten my load. I’ve needed you help so much and so does my friend hearing me right now. Pleas Jesus bring them help. Amen

He Can Do What He Wants, He’s God All By Himself

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Romans 9:15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

O-bservation:

In this letter to the Romans, St. Paul references a passage of scripture taken from Exodus 33:19. Moses had asked God to show him His glory. The Lord answered Moses with the above passage.

A-pplication:

What is being said here to Moses, by God? My answer to that question is simply, “He Can Do What He Wants, He’s God All By Himself.” At no time can we bring God down to our small level for Him to play in our world by our limited understanding. He already did that once. We killed Him and He came back to life after conquering the enemy of our souls, Satan himself.  Today He is unlimited. If He shows kindness to any of us, His followers, it’s only because by His Grace we can even follow Him. There is nothing that we have or are that He has not given us. Be careful not to judge the Almighty! “He Can Do What He Wants, He’s God All By Himself.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today I can only respond to You by bowing and humbling myself over and over again to your unlimited greatness! Amen
