Faith Comes By Hearing The Word Of God

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

St. Paul writes these words with a grieving heart. He knew his people had rejected Christ as Lord. They did it because they had not operated in faith but instead in accordance with Old Testament law. As much as he mourned this fact, he still rejoiced that he was an Apostle to the Gentiles. He said his people had rejected Christ because they refused to move in faith and receive the message from God’s word concerning Christ.

One Old Testament theologian says he’s been able to note 574 Old Testament verses that speak of a Messiah to come. Yet most say there are at least 300! Jesus fulfilled every Old Testament prophecy about Him. At least 300, that is. Yet, the Jewish people refused, by and large, to accept this fact. Oh, it’s true that some Jewish people over two thousand years have received Christ as their Lord. But the number was so minuscule that Paul moved on to a world that had never heard the gospel and began to give them the good news of Jesus. Why the change from giving the message solely to the Jews and moving on to the “Whole World?” Because of FAITH. That’s right! Just one little word … FAITH! And the reason for it is because the Gentile folks moved on in faith and the Jewish people hardly got out of bed to accept Jesus. Remember, “Faith Comes By Hearing The Word Of God!”

Dear Jesus, On this beautiful morning, I need no hype, just more of Jesus. But I had to let You know that I only have a heart to follow You because Your word has been hidden in my heart. I’m moving in Faith, believing for Your very best for me. Amen
