Proclaim A Funeral Dirge

S. O. A. P. Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional! S-cripture: Ezekiel 32:2a “Son of man, take up a lament concerning Pharaoh King of Egypt.” O-bservation: There were many Pharaohs through the years that the Old Testament covered, and this is not a Pharaoh that many are aware of. His name is hard to spell and even harder to say. His name was Pharaohhophra or Apries. God said to Ezekiel. “Proclaim A Funeral Dirge,’ for this wicked man. Don’t be sorry for him. Don’t suggest he might die as a result of his horrendous atrocities against neighboring nations and his own people, but rather let...

You Still Have Time!

S. O. A. P. Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional! S-cripture: Isaiah 55:6 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. O-bservation: Contextually this was a call to the people of Israel to return to the Lord while there was yet time. In other words, God’s patience with them was running out. The scripture says in Genesis 6:3 that “God’s Spirit would not always contend with humans.” There was a limit to his patience. Isaiah said, “He’s near to you right now.” Don’t wait! “You Still Have Time!” A-pplication: There’s tremendous history to this heaven-sent directive to God’s people. Israel...

I’m Not Sure They Knew

S. O. A. P. Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional! S-cripture: Romans 5:20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more. O-bservation: Here St Paul was referring to the original sin of Adam. When Adam sinned, everything started down an endless spiral into spiritual darkness. Then came the first Pentecost at Mt Sinai. At this point in history, God gave Moses the law. But what the law did was to show man how utterly impossible the law was to keep. "I'm Not Sure They Knew," that the law would have this impact on...

A Thorn

S. O. A. P. Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional! S-cripture: 2 Corinthians 12:7a Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. O-bservation: Previously in this chapter, St. Paul talked about inexpressible and glorious events that God had given him early on in his Christian walk. These events had to do with what he describes as, him being caught up in the spirit into the third heaven. He wasn’t sure if he was in the body or out of the body. However, his experience was so magnificent that he...

Like Father Like Son

S. O. A. P. Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional! S-cripture: Matthew 1: 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. O-bservation: Joseph, Jesus’ eventual stepfather, was engaged to be married to Mary. But then he heard she was pregnant, not by man but by God Himself. He was a gentle and kind person, and he wanted to keep the Jewish law, but neither did he want to hurt Mary publicly. He decided that he would abide by the law and also separate himself...
