Amazing Glory

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 8:1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.

O-bservation:

King David was quick to note that the Lord God Jehovah is majestic in all the earth, and He is our Lord. Not only that, but He has established His GLORY in the heavens.

A-pplication:

As a kid, I was quick to play the "My Dad's better than your Dad is game” on a regular basis. He was faster, stronger, and better in every way than any of my friend’s Dads. At least he was in my opinion. However, as I grew old I noticed my father began to decline here and there, and in the end he went to heaven. In no way does that diminish my feelings for my father’s greatness. However, I have a Heavenly Father who is not just the greatest of all time, He is limitless. His glory has been established in the highest of heavens throughout His great UNIVERSE. I'd say that's "Amazing Glory!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I wish there was an appropriate word to define just how great You really are. Whatever it might be, I'm quick to acknowledge Your … "Amazing Glory!" Amen

Fear God And Give Him Glory

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Revelation 14:7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”

O-bservation:

In John's Revelation, he saw an angel who preached the gospel to the whole earth while flying in midair. The angel cried, "Fear God and give him glory!"

A-pplication:

Whether by angels, or men and women of God, or even by a demon as in Acts 19:13, this gospel will be preached. In fact, Jesus said in Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." We see turmoil rampant on the whole earth here in the book of Revelation, and yet in the middle of it all the gospel is once again being preached by an angel of the Lord. It is futuristic I know, but the message is timeless—for yesterday, today, and forever. It is a message that will bring eternal life to those who hear it and live it. "Fear God And Give Him Glory."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, You are my Lord! I fear, respect, love, and honor You above all others. I say this for today and every day! Amen

Bring On The Insults

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Peter 4:14 If you are insulted, because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

O-bservation:

Here St Peter reminded all "Followers Of Jesus," that when we are insulted because we are Christian, we will be blessed. The reason is because it brings us the spirit of glory, and of course, God's Spirit as well rests upon us.

A-pplication:

This word glory has an original rendering of "The weight one carries." I'm speaking of the weight of influence. So as we suffer ridicule for our faith in Jesus, our weight of influence with those around us will grow. Also, any suffering for Jesus brings God's Spirit to rest upon us as well. Recently my wife and I traveled again to the city of Rome, where Paul and Peter both were martyred for their faith. Certainly, there was much suffering leading up to such events, yet here Peter had become so well-versed in the pain of suffering that for him, he knew his influence would, in time, help bring the gospel to the whole world. After Pentecost, his whole approach to his faith was. "Bring On The Insults"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I have a desire to pay whatever price you're asking me to pay in order to see the gospel move forward. If it helps this AM, I say, "Bring On The Insults." Amen

The Glory And The Splendor

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Proverbs 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old.

O-bservation:

King Solomon puts a young man next to an aging man and details the difference between the two. He says that a young man’s glory, or pride, or renown, is found in his STRENGTH, while an aging man’s splendor or magnificence can be found in his GRAYING HAIR.

A-pplication:

Since I’m the aging man in this scenario, I would have to say that gray hair is a sign of what you’ve lost. A man or woman with gray hair has lost the pigment cells in their hair follicles. When that occurs, the strand of hair will become either gray or silver or white. Hopefully, the gray hair also signifies that what has been lost has in turn given birth to wisdom. Wisdom is the result of years spent attempting something and failing, then trying again and succeeding. In the process, something is triggered to kill pigment cells in our hair follicles, which then results in the loss of the color substance melanin. Oddly enough, the loss of hair color produces the gain of wisdom, and all of it becomes magnificent in God’s eyes. On the other hand, a young man has STRENGTH as his glory or renown! Would I trade Wisdom for STRENGTH? Never! Would I trade Gray Hair for Strength? In a heartbeat! But the joy is knowing that there is a blessing in being young and there is a blessing in being old. You could call it “The Glory And The Splendor.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM, I am reminded of the words of David when he said, “I have been young, and I have been old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken.” Thank You for Your faithfulness to me all these years. Amen
