Just Ask The Lord

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Zechariah 10:1
Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.

This was the word of the Lord through the prophet Zechariah to the people of Judah. They had returned to rebuild the temple and the city they had been pulled into bondage from seventy years earlier. Zechariah said instead of all other kinds of human-made approaches to trying to get rain to come and plants to grow, “Just Ask The Lord.”

Why is it that too often in our lives, we have a tendency to seek all the human-made prescriptions, antidotes, and solutions to our problems? I’ve said it before. We go to the doctor before we pray to the “Great Physician.” We ask help from the banker before we look towards “Jehovah Jireh” (Our Provider). We go to the psychologist before we ask the “Wonderful Counselor.” We call for an arbitrator before we seek the “Prince of Peace.” All of these earthly institutions are fine, and my family and I have sought help from each one I mentioned in times past. But a better question is, why not “Just Ask The Lord?” He is real! He is alive! He is listening and waiting and wanting to help, but His hands are tied until we ask Him. There’s no better time than this AM to “Just Ask The Lord.”

Dear Jesus, I love You this AM. I’m so thankful that You hear my prayers. Not just today, but every day. It’s been my practice that when I’m in trouble to “Just Ask The Lord.” Amen
