The Pleasing Aroma Of Christ

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Corinthians 2:15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

O-bservation:

These are St. Paul’s words from his second letter to the Church at Corinth. He said that to God, he and his fellow Apostles and church builders were a pleasing aroma of Christ. He said that his team smelled good to God when they were leading people to Jesus, and they smelled good to God when the people they preached to rejected them. Either way, Paul said, “We are The Pleasing Aroma Of Christ.”

A-pplication:

It’s never our job, as believers, to bring people to Jesus. Only God can do that. It’s the call of every believer to witness our faith in Jesus to people who do not believe. When we do that, we are like a pleasing aroma of Christ in the nostrils of God Almighty. I know that is a strange way of putting it in our present-day context, yet that was a very descriptive summary of God’s pleasure that people would have quickly understood in that day. It has always been the will of God that every true believer lives to introduce others to Jesus. When we do that, some accept and some reject. But as has been said, either way, we smell good to God. Do your best, and I will join you in being “The Pleasing Aroma Of Christ.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I don’t know how else to pray this today but to say I want to smell like you to the Father. I want to be Your witness for Your glory. Amen

Always Winning

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Corinthians 2:14
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.

O-bservation:

Here St. Paul was grateful and rejoiced that no matter what, our Lord has made it so that we are “Always Winning.” He called the knowledge of Christ an aroma that we “Followers of Jesus” carry with us everywhere.

A-pplication:

It’s hard to imagine that we who really love the Lord have a certain “smell good” quality about us. Perhaps you’ve never considered this life of faith in that manner before. Yet, there it is in plain view in scripture. How is this possible? Someone once said, “Nothing hurts when you’re winning.” Certainly you could add here as a biblical takeaway, “Everything smells good when you’re winning too.” The Great Apostle was very clear in this passage when he said, “You just have to be in a continual place of giving thanks to the Lord, because it is He who helps us live in a continual state of Always Winning.” Perhaps you think this AM, “I just can’t agree with that!” But friend you must. For the believer, even our losses are flipped into wins because losing is a state of mind. How you think about what happens to you is everything. So when the whole world thought the worst thing that could ever happen happened to Jesus on the cross, He actually flipped it into the greatest win for humanity when He rose again! That’s why today, with Jesus as your Lord, you’re “Always Winning”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank You this AM that You’ve made it so that I’m “Always Winning.” I refuse to lose or smell bad. I’m Yours, and that puts me on the winning side! Amen
