Stay Amazed

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 11:23b For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

O-bservation:

Jesus said that Sodom would have been spared if it had seen the miracles the Lord had performed in Capernaum. In fact, Capernaum had witnessed more miracles than any other city Jesus had traveled to: the demoniac in the synagogue that Jesus delivered in Mark 1, the man sick of the palsy in Matthew 9, Peter’s mother-in-law in Matthew 8, Jairus’ daughter and the woman with the “issue of blood” in Matthew 9, and the centurion’s servant in Matthew 8. And I could go on. There were even more miracles that occurred. All of them happened in Capernaum.

A-pplication:

When you read this passage you kind of think, “Poor Sodom.” I mean Jesus, who is God, said, “If Sodom had seen the miracles that Capernaum had seen it would have been spared." Why? Because Jesus was saying Sodom would have turned from its wicked ways. But now, here was Capernaum, a city that had seen so much of the miracle-working power of God that the miracles of Christ had become “Ho Hum.” Here’s the point I want to make. “Stay Amazed” by Jesus. Whatever you have to do at any age of life to Stay Amazed, then Stay Amazed. We must never allow ourselves to become bored by the miraculous. Instead, when it comes to the miracle-working power of Jesus we must, Stay Amazed.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I will always Stay Amazed by Your miracle-working power! I promise! Amen

Jesus, I’m Amazed By YOU!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 12:17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.

O-bservation:

Once again, the Pharisees had tried to trap Jesus in His own words. They asked Him about the "Imperial Tax" that all Jews were forced to pay to Caesar. They knew if He argued against it, He would be imprisoned by Rome and He would finally be out of their hair once and for all. But if He argued for it, He would be taking money out of the hands of the Lord God Jehovah, whom they all loved and served. When Jesus said, "Break the money up and give Caesar what he is due, and give what is due to God Almighty,” it was such a shocking, mouth-shutting response that the scripture says, "They were all amazed by Jesus."

A-pplication:

Jesus takes away the forced allegiance of a mere conscript and leads His Followers with an "Awe and Amazement." Following Jesus is never about "Have To," it's all about "Get To!" No one ever had to talk me into loving my (now) wife Robyn. No one ever had to give me "The Four Spiritual Laws" as to why marrying her would be my best decision ever. No way! It was just that she "AMAZED" me from the first time I met her. The next time Jesus pulls off another miracle in your behalf, one that leaves you SMH (Shaking My Head), you ought to look up to heaven and say ... "Jesus, I'm Amazed By YOU!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm reminded this AM that I never got pulled, dragged, kicked, or abused into being a "Follower Of Jesus." I walked in the door of your Grace the first day AMAZED! After all these years, I keep saying ... "Jesus I'm Amazed By YOU!"

Amazing Faith

S. O. A. P.

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 6:6a He was amazed at their lack of faith.

O-bservation:

Jesus had just gone to his "Hometown" to minister help to the people, but all they could say was ... "Isn't this the Carpenter's son?" With that one line they signaled that they preferred doubt over faith. Only a few people were healed in that moment because of their doubt surrounding their great needs. Jesus left his "Hometown" AMAZED. He was AMAZED at their "Lack of Faith."

A-pplication:

Never find yourself on the wrong end of amazing. In Matthew 8:10, Jesus was amazed at the "Great Faith" of the Roman Centurion. In fact, you could call it "Amazing Faith." And because of his "Amazing Faith" his servant was healed. Here, however, Jesus is amazed at the lack of faith of his hometown friends. It must be the desire of every "Follower of Jesus" that we just keep believing. The enemy of our souls is skilled in stirring up doubt and unbelief. Those two negatives are rooted in fear and timidity. The Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self discipline." I know you feel the same way as me. We don't want to be known for an "Amazing Lack of Faith," we want Jesus to say, "I'm amazed at your ... Amazing Faith."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I must admit ... You have answered my prayers so many times that I have "Great Faith." Only because You gave it to me! Amen
