Memorial Day

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Proverbs 16:2

All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.

O-bservation:

The world has a saying, “A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do!” But that is suggesting that a man’s motives are pure. Here the wise man tells us that every man and every woman believes they’re making the right decision when they make it, but then he reminds us that only God can weigh that person’s true motives.

A-pplication:

It’s “Memorial Day” today in America. When we Americans think of “Memorial Day,” we think of the men and women who have died in combat, keeping our nation free. I, for one, am very proud and very grateful for my fellow citizens who have laid down their lives for my own freedom. Yet today, we are reminded that those people all gave their lives as a result of suited men and women in Washington who decided to make a move or respond to someone else’s move militarily. Thankfully, our men and women in military uniform have moved boldly forward regardless of the consequences. This verse is a reminder from the wise King Solomon that we all feel what we are doing is right in our own eyes. Only God Almighty, however, really knows the motives behind all that we do.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me this AM to always consult with you before I monitor what I see from my perspective. I know you have a better vantage point than I do. I want my motives to line up with yours. Amen
