Two Ears And One Mouth

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Proverbs 18:13

To answer before listening—that is folly and shame.

O-bservation:

King Solomon, who was known for being the wisest man who ever lived, said it is a complete shame to answer before listening. Furthermore, he said it is folly, which means it shows a lack of good sense.

A-pplication:

I raised a family of four sons with my wife. I know what it is to sit around a table and not be able to get a word in edgewise. But thank God, as adulthood has set in on each one of them, they have become better listeners. However, I must say that I have a few friends my age who are difficult to shut up. What’s the problem? I think they think they were born with two mouths and one ear. Listening is the “Art of WISDOM.” The more you listen, the more you understand the scope of an issue. The term “Global View” means having a really big view of an issue. It’s difficult to get a global view of a particular challenge if your own words are all that are being spoken. Sometimes others in the room could help bring a “Global View” if we’ll just remember that we were given by our Creator … “Two Ears And One Mouth.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me remember this AM, as I leave for my mission, that there are others in my world. They want to talk and need to talk as much, if not more, than me. Help me be a good listener all day. I need a “Global View.” Amen
