Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 20:5
That the mirth of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.
O-bservation:
These are the words of one of Job’s friends in response to something Job had said. In a larger sense, these words last forever. Those who choose to reject the Lord will not be able to keep their party going for long.
A-pplication:
There are certain activities in this life that my love for Jesus has kept me from. To be honest, there have been times I’ve looked upon people who do the things I won’t do with a bit of envy. I’ve thought, “Wow, I wonder what it would be to live like that?” Only to see the same people, in time, broken by their own rejection of the Lord. This is not to speak judgment on anyone this AM, it’s just a reminder of the words of Jesus, “There is a way that seems right to man but the end of it leads to death” (para). We really aren’t sure how long any of us will live. We’re not even promised tomorrow! With that in mind, it’s imperative that we put all of our time, purpose, hope, energy, and faith in the things that please the Lord. People need Jesus, and that is our mission. We must point them to Him. If we don’t, you can be sure “Their Party Won’t Last!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Let me have a double portion of Your love today in order to show people the way to You! Amen
