S-cripture:

1 Kings 16:30

Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him.

O-bservation:

Ahab, the King of Israel, married a heathen woman named Jezebel and set up Baal worship in all of Israel. He was undeniably “The Worst King Ever” in Israel’s history.

A-pplication:

You may be asking this AM, “How does a man become so evil?” My answer is that he had help. A few verses earlier, the scripture speaks of Ahab’s father Omri. The scripture says of Omri, “But Omri did evil in the eyes of the Lord and sinned more than all those before him” (vs. 25). Isn’t it interesting that Ahab’s father Omri had set such a high standard for evil that his son felt compelled to break it. Well he did break it. Ahab became known as “The Worst King Ever” in Israel. If children can be given a “Worst Whatever” example, why can’t you and I decide that, with God’s help, we will determine to be the “Best Whatever” as an example for all those around us. I’ll pray for you, you pray for me.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I really believe this AM that, with Your help, I can be the best ever for someone who needs an example to look up to. But … only with Your help. Amen
