Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Esther 6:6b
Now Haman thought to himself, “Who is there that the king would rather honor than me?”
O-bservation:
King Xerxes wanted to honor Mordecai, Queen Esther’s uncle, and asked his royal assistant Haman what he should do to really honor someone. Haman assumed it was him.
A-pplication:
“The Problem Of Assuming” is that if we’re guilty of such, you and I are usually the ones that end up looking foolish. Haman had it in for Mordecai and the Jewish people. Mordecai refused to bow down (being a Jew) to Haman, who was the King’s assistant. Haman had an overinflated opinion of himself, since he wore the King’s signet ring. Whenever a person is full of himself or herself destruction isn’t far away. Xerxes discovered that years before Mordecai had saved his life and had never been rewarded. When Xerxes, the King, asked for help in knowing how to honor such a person, Haman ASSUMED the King meant him. When the King honored Mordecai instead, Haman knew his time was up. Later that night he was killed by the King he thought he had in his back pocket.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I want to live my life wholeheartedly unto You. With Your help, I will live separated from assuming anything. With Your help, I’ll continue to work and mind my own business for Your glory. Amen
