The Consequence of Pride

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 28:12b

You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

O-bservation:

The Prophet spoke in past tense to the King of Tyre. The city of Tyre today is one of the largest port cities of Lebanon. This verse is unique inasmuch as it appears that God is condemning satan himself, along with the king. The truth is, God said that his beauty and perfection became his demise because of his foolish pride.

A-pplication:

Any compelling attributes we may have are always a gift from God. For an individual to step up and somehow take credit for God-given attributes is a result of foolish pride. Pride, unless dealt with, most certainly brings destruction (Prov. 16:18). The Bible also says, “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word (Ps. 119:9). The strength of this passage is the reminder that unless we keep the threat of pride from getting out of hand, in time, one will have to deal with … “The Consequence of Pride.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m reminded that pride is my biggest threat to seeing all my dreams come true. Help me I pray, to resist the evil one again today! Amen
