The Call to Surrender

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Mark 8:34 (NIV)
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’

In this verse, Jesus extends an invitation to discipleship to both the crowd and his disciples. He outlines the conditions of discipleship, which include self-denial, taking up one’s cross, and following him. Jesus emphasizes the sacrificial nature of discipleship, calling his followers to surrender their own desires and will to follow him completely.

I am challenged to examine my commitment to discipleship and my willingness to surrender my life to Jesus. It prompts me to consider whether I am truly willing to deny myself, take up my cross, and follow Jesus wholeheartedly. As a follower of Christ, I am called to embrace the sacrificial nature of discipleship and to prioritize my allegiance to Jesus above all else.

Dear Jesus,
Help me to live a life of sacrificial love and obedience, glorifying your name in all that I do. Amen
