That’s Our Job

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Zephaniah 2:3a

Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands.

O-bservation:

Zephaniah, the Prophet from Judah, wrote this during the reign of Josiah, the King of Judah. Josiah was the last righteous King to rule Judah before their fall. Zephaniah knew what was coming and he told the remnant followers of Jehovah, “Just seek the Lord.”

A-pplication:

The Prophet Zephaniah was writing to a small, select group of people who lived in Judah. He said, “Those of you who are HUMBLE and those of you who keep the Lord’s COMMANDS, are to Seek The Lord.” I say a small, select group because you could actually identify the handful of people in Judah who lived that way. I’m not sure it’s that bad in our country at this point, but we certainly aren’t lining up with the Word of God. What is it that we, who are quickly diminishing to the number referred to as a remnant, supposed to do? Are we to vehemently argue politics? Are we to fight for social justice to the point that we dislike our brothers who don’t? Should we march? Should we strike? Should we throw stuff? All of these actions have been employed in times past, but it’s not getting better. Zephaniah said if you’re humble and if you follow the Lord’s commands, you are to “SEEK THE LORD.” That’s it. “That’s Our Job!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Once again this AM, I’m seeking You my God.  I have some other jobs, but that’s my Main Job. Amen

With all the craziness going on in the world I have become disillusioned, but reading this today reminds me to seek God. He has never disappointed me.
