Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Philemon 1:4
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers.
O-bservation:
Paul the Apostle was writing to his friend Philemon and was going to ask him a favor. Before he did, however, he wanted Philemon to know how THANKFUL to God he was for such a friend. He said, “Whenever I think of you in my prayers, I ALWAYS give thanks to God for you.”
A-pplication:
FRIENDS, Real Friends are hard to come by. In fact, that’s why so many real friends from our youth remain friends till death. In our youth there’s not much to prove. There’s not much of an agenda for young people other than “I can trust you.” As age sets in, things change quickly. The idea of friendship is now based on what another person can do for me, and what’s in it for me. Philemon had opened his home for Paul to have church there. Perhaps his home is where Paul stayed when he was in town. Any other reasons not mentioned are just more reasons Paul considered Philemon a true friend. When he prayed for Philemon, he didn’t pray that Philemon would be more like him, or more religious. NO. Paul simply gave thanks to Jesus for his great friend. Think about your true friends this AM. Then just … “Thank God For Friends!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
There are just TOO many good friends to mention in this short prayer. But when I’m finished writing, I’ll start down the list. Thank You Jesus for my friends. Amen
