Just Come Home

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Kings 11:2 They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.

O-bservation:

This is a brief account of Solomon's direct disobedience of Moses' command in Deuteronomy 7:3 concerning marrying women outside of Israel. God told the Israelites that should they marry outside of their faith, the women they married would bring them to their foreign gods and away from Jehovah God. In spite of God’s directive, Solomon disregarded God’s Word and did what he wanted.

A-pplication:

All of us have disobeyed the Lord at one time or another. Some have even walked away from daily fellowship with the Lord. Many of these RUNAWAYS come back to Jesus through repentance. However, there are some who not only walk away but also become adversarial towards their original "Faith Roots." None of us are GOD. We are NOT the JUDGE. And of course this happened before the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. But none can deny that Solomon's refusal to acknowledge his failure damaged Israel for years. Jesus was standing in heaven then, and is standing in heaven right now, saying to all of His RUNAWAY kids ... "Just Come Home!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Help me this AM to joyfully proclaim Your message not only to lost souls but also to Your RUNAWAY souls, to ... "Just Come Home!" Amen

God’s Got YOU!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 135:14 For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.

O-bservation:

King David failed on numerous occasions in his walk of faith. But if David learned anything from his failures, it was that God knew his heart and would NEVER forsake him. In the end, he understood that no matter the consequences of sin, God would in time vindicate His people and show compassion for His ministers.

A-pplication:

Make no mistake, there are indeed consequences for our sinful actions. My father used to say, "Son, for every kick there is a kickback!" It really is the "Law of the Harvest." But in no way does this alter God’s unfailing love and compassion for any of us. His Grace is all encompassing. God can even turn bad things around for our good. Why? Because in our weakness His strength is made known by His Grace. Use caution in turning to others in your greatest times of failure. So often those we think to be our friends are actually pleased when we fail. Worse than that, they appear to be on a permanent holiday and can't be found when we need them most. BUT! ... Our precious Lord Jesus, will not turn a deaf ear or appear to be out of town when we call on Him. NO! He will show us compassion and in time will even vindicate us. So be encouraged today ... "God’s Got YOU!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I thank You that You love me in spite of my failures. Not only that, but You actually turn my failures around for Your glory. I'm happy that ... "You've Got ME!" Amen

Sexual Holiness

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Thessalonians 4:3, 4 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.

O-bservation:

St. Paul prefaces his words to the young church at Thessalonica with this line. "It Is God's Will." What follows is an uncompromising statement, "You must be sanctified and you must avoid sexual immorality in order to live an honorable lifestyle before the Lord and others."

A-pplication:

This word sanctified has to do with separating ourselves from sin and unto God. One is given the grace of God in order to do so. But at the same time, one's will must be exerted for this to be accomplished. You don't have to be a rocket scientist, or some "Religious Judge Of A Person," to recognize a lot of "Hitting On" in a flirtatious or sexual way even within the body of Christ today. Paul taught us UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF ALMIGHTY GOD, to avoid it! Erase it from your approach to living. It is not an Honorable or Holy thing for a man or woman of God to engage in. When it comes to our sexuality, our God demands from all of us His Followers, "Sexual Holiness."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I know You have called me to "Sexual Holiness." Just help me run my race and stay in my lane. I want to do the will of God in this matter. Amen

Just Keep Saying It!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 56:4 In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

O-bservation:

Here was a man who was being chased by his enemies. He wasn't just any man; he was the greatest King in Israel's history—David. Fear had overwhelmed him so he began to confess the opposite. He said, “I'm not afraid,” and then he went on to say that his God is so powerful that nothing his enemies could say or do will be able to succeed against him.

A-pplication:

Sometimes the best thing you can do to a challenge is speak to it. When I was a small boy, we used to sing a song in kid’s church. "Be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little ears what you hear, there's a God up above looking down with arms of love, so be careful little eyes what you see." David was afraid. So instead of going deeper into fear he spoke to his fear. He said he would not be afraid and that his God was with him. If that wasn't enough, he said the same thing a few verses later in this chapter! David's plan was to ... "Just Keep Saying It!" Just like you can talk yourself into sin by telling yourself it's okay and no one will know, I believe with God’s help you can talk yourself out of fear. Because words build faith or fear, and your actions follow your words. Talk faith today! Then ... "Just Keep Saying It!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Because of Your care and concern over me, I will not be afraid today. Like I said ... I will not be afraid today! Amen!

What Do People Know About YOU?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 71:7 I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge.

O-bservation:

In David's lifetime he faced lions, bears, giants, and teammates who were in debt, in despair, and discontented. He also faced many battles on the field, troubles at home with an adulterous affair, and rebellious children. He became an example to most of his fellow countrymen that when in trouble, a man or woman needs to run to God. Because for David, the Lord was his REFUGE.

A-pplication:

Doctors are good, people are good, police are good, counselors are good, friends are good, your family is good, but Jesus is ... BETTER! In our times of weakness our closest friends and family know certain things about us. It's impossible to hide these patterns when crunch time comes. The question is: "What Do People Know About YOU?" Who is your REFUGE? Where do you HIDE? What brings you PEACE? At every point of David's life, the "Winning Times" and the "Sinning Times," everyone knew that their king was a "God Chaser." David couldn't hide this lifelong pattern of living and people Knew It! "What Do People Know About YOU?"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I hope everyone in my world knows I'm a "God Chaser." I hope I have left enough SIGNS in my WAKE that people know that I'm running to You, my REFUGE. Amen
