Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Philippians 4:1
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
O-bservation:
St. Paul closed the last part of his renowned letter to the Church at Philippi by telling them to “Stand Firm In The Lord,” the way I’ve instructed you.
A-pplication:
In the previous chapter, the Apostle expressed his displeasure with the outside religious threat against this young Church. The Church was being accused of not keeping the rules in matters of CIRCUMCISION. Paul called them “DOGS!” Paul talked about his own reason to promote his personal history of rule keeping. Earlier in life, he was a member of the highest Jewish religious order. He was a brilliant young lawyer who was zealous for his religion. After Paul became a “Follower of Jesus,” he counted all of his “Religious Rule Keeping” as nothing in order to know The Lord. He told them to follow him if they needed a role model. Paul did not say this to be arrogant, as if he were some professional “Jesus Follower,” but rather as a father who loves his children. Somewhere in time, all of us who love the Lord must put our Faith on the line for the sake of others and, “Stand Firm In The Lord!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m ready to be a role model and “Stand Firm In My Faith!” Please help me. Amen
