Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Acts 8:1a
And Saul approved of their killing him.
O-bservation:
The writer of the book of Acts was Luke. He was a Doctor and an astute historian. Here, as he finishes the story of the deacon Stephen being stoned to death, he then mentions that Saul, later known as Paul, approved of the killing.
A-pplication:
Later Saul had one of the most miraculous conversions in the history of Christianity. He went from being a zealot against the new Christian faith to being the greatest evangelist, perhaps in history. But before this happened he had stood by and approved of these people killing Stephen. “Some Things Stay With You!” Later on, Paul recounts in Acts 22 how he had reminded the Lord of this great travesty prior to his conversion. The Lord had said to him, “Go and I will use you to preach to the Gentiles.” Certainly Paul obeyed the Lord just like each of us endeavor to do. However, there will be some things in life that stay with you. Only the grace of Jesus can see you through. Believe me, HIS grace will see you through!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I’m thinking of about ten things I’d love to do over. Instead, today, I’m holding on to Your Grace. Amen
