Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordon.
John the Baptist was the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy given by Isaiah hundreds of years earlier. He was a different kind of religious figure. He dressed in camel hair and wore a leather belt. His diet consisted of locusts and wild honey. He evidently lived in the wilderness of Judea because that’s where he preached on a regular basis. It meant that the people had to go to where he was to hear his messages.
You’d have to say that what John the Baptist accomplished in a relatively short period of time was what we commonly refer to today as REVIVAL! Can you imagine someone as different as him, who had to rely on a camel to die to be clothed and ate bugs and honey as a steady diet would be appealing in any way? Just like Jeremiah, who had been called from his mother’s womb to be a prophet to the nations, John too had been anointed and called from his mother’s womb to be the forerunner to Jesus Christ, God’s Son. Few people lived in the wilderness where John the Baptist’s ministry began. I’ve been there. It’s a desolate place, to be sure. He was so anointed that the people went to where he was. John the Baptist created a stir before that was popular. Four hundred years had passed, during which time God had not spoken to the people of earth. And then one day, this man came preaching, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord!” And when he did, what happened next could only be referred to as REVIVAL!
You’ve done it before, please do it again! This nation and this world need REVIVAL! Amen
