The REST Of JESUS

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 11:28

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

O-bservation:

This is the eternal offering of Jesus to anyone who is weary. He simply said that if a person is burdened down with life’s cares and just plain TIRED, He is more than willing to give them REST.

A-pplication:

A hundred years ago, when I was much younger, I well remember the first Indiana Jones “Raiders of the Lost Ark” movie. One of the lines Mr. Jones made famous was, “It’s not the years, it’s the miles.” He said that in reference to how tired and worn out he was. The intensity of life has a way of wearing a person down to the point that their stress level actually feels HEAVY. As one ages, no one wants to hear them speak of how tired they are. No one wants to hear about the stress they’re living under. It’s as if no one wants to listen, period. That’s why “The Believer” has a leg up on everyone else. Jesus offers rest to everyone, but usually only His Followers take Him up on it. Jesus is the one PERSON, and the one PLACE, that any and all of us can run to on our most desperate occasions. When the stress feels like an elephant laying on top of us, Jesus says, “COME.” And when we do, we are given … “The REST Of JESUS!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

As I read this passage this AM, I just have one word to say … “THANKS!” Amen
