Prisoners Of Hope
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Zechariah 9:12
Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.
O-bservation:
Zechariah, the prophet, emphasized that even though the people of Israel were being held captive in Babylon, they had hope in their great God that He would deliver them and bring them out of captivity back home to their native land. Theologians through the years have used this verse as a metaphor for believers in Jesus being held in whatever kind of bondage and being hopeful that one day their Lord will bring them out of that place into a spacious place of victory.
A-pplication:
I can’t say that you’re like me, but just maybe you are when it comes to HOPE. It’s hard for me not to be hopeful in every situation I find myself in because my great God and Savior has always come through. I have seen His hand in my life and circumstances so many times. Is it even proper for me to say I’m one of these “Prisoners Of Hope” Zechariah was talking about? I mean, over and over again, God has delivered me. When I was sick. When my son was dead. When I was broke. When I couldn’t find a way out. I got well, the boy came back to life, I received a check out of nowhere, and a door opened for me. I have become so dependent on my God that even now, as I write, I’m dreaming of my best days ahead. Why? Because this AM, I am a “Prisoners Of Hope!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m so grateful this AM, as I look back over my life, to see your hand covering me at every point. Sometimes You’re so good to me. I feel like I’m the only person on the planet. Your continual goodness and generosity and delivering power in my life are so duly noted that I cannot help but rely on You. I am Your “Prisoner Of Hope!” Amen
