Peace Be With You

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

John 20:19b

Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

O-bservation:

This is the first of three times that Jesus said “Peace Be With You” in this chapter. All of them occurred after His resurrection, and were spoken to His disciples who would spread the “Good News” after His ascension into heaven. It was Isaiah the Prophet who first called Jesus the “Prince Of Peace” (Is. 9:6), 700 years before Jesus was born. Indeed, He was destined to produce PEACE.

A-pplication:

It’s been my experience that the kind of peace JESUS brings is “Peace of Mind” and “Peace in One’s Heart.” We live in a world now where Christians continue to be executed for their faith. Death, killing, executions, and martyrdom never happen in peaceful settings. But one can have peace of mind and peace in one’s heart in the midst of the most violent times imaginable! Peace is not something that is out there. It’s not something to be chased after. The kind of peace Jesus spoke of was a peace that can be had at His hand right now. And once you have His Peace … it’s with you all the time. “Peace Be With You.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thank You this AM that because I have You, I have PEACE. I won’t have to go looking for it today. I always have it with me. Amen
