Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Matthew 27:5
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.
O-bservation:
Judas had acted out of GREED. His love of money (remember he carried the money bag for the disciples) had led him to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. When he awakened to the fact that they were actually going to kill Jesus, a scripture earlier in this chapter says he was filled with REMORSE. Finally, he threw the 30 pieces of silver into the temple and went and hanged himself.
A-pplication:
The word REMORSE means, “Deep regret or guilt for a wrong committed.” Judas died with REGRETS. I believe Jesus would have forgiven him, but obviously that wasn’t the plan. If you are battling REGRET for whatever reason, Jesus will help you right now. William Borden left a family fortune in Chicago to be a missionary to China. After seven years of preparation he boarded a ship for China. They stopped in Egypt, and while there he contracted Cerebral Meningitis and died two weeks later at the age of 25. He never made it to China. In his Bible were found the words, “No Reserve … No Retreat … No Regret.” He had no feeling of remorse or guilt that by leaving all to Follow Jesus he had somehow missed something. No! He was at perfect peace. Judas died because he wasn’t. Whatever you do, give it all to Jesus. Our biggest desire is to one day leave this world with … “No Regrets.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, as I look back there’s a number of things I wish I had done differently, but, by Your grace, I’m still living with “No Regrets.” Amen
