Keep The Fire Burning

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Leviticus 6:12a

The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out.

O-bservation:

One of God’s directives to the priests in the Old Testament was that the fire on the altar of the Lord had to remain burning. The reason was so the people could have a continual, “real time” opportunity to bring their burnt offerings to the Lord in order to be forgiven.

A-pplication:

Obviously we live in the New Covenant age of Grace. Yet the altar in our churches is still the place where spiritual commitments are made to the Lord. That’s not to say we can’t do that in the privacy of our own bedroom, but still the altar represents a meeting place with God. The question then is always, is the fire still burning in a spiritual sense? Spiritually, are you at a warm place with Jesus, or have things grown cold in your relationship.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I want the fire to burn hotter than ever as it relates to my relationship with You. Help me, “Keep the Fire Burning.” Amen
