Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 24:14b

“You will be judged according to your conduct and your actions,” declares the Sovereign Lord.

O-bservation:

The prophet Ezekiel speaks to the people of Jerusalem and tells them a time is coming soon when they will be judged by their most Sovereign Lord for their conduct and actions. In other words, they will not be allowed to point fingers at anyone else because they will be judged guilty for their OWN sins.

A-pplication:

I’m sure you remember, as do I, those times from childhood when you were caught in the middle of your own sin. Whether it was taking a cookie after mom said, “Don’t touch,” or something even greater that kids do. As soon as I was caught in the act, I’d quickly try and point the finger at someone or something that would suggest that it wasn’t really my fault. That’s the nature of us humans. We want to project blame instead of accepting blame. I want to take this conversation away from Ezekiel and the context in which he writes. Instead, I want to talk about you and me. One day you and I will stand before God. We will each give an account of our own actions and conduct. Hopefully, we will both hear the Lord say to us, “Well Done!” But on that day, we will each stand individually from each other and face the Sovereign Lord. And on that day, for me, “It’s Not On You, It’s On Me!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I realize that a day is coming when I will not be able to point my finger at another person ever again. So today, help me remember that my conduct and my actions are my own choice, and I will one day give an account to You as to how I have lived. Help me, Jesus. Amen
