Is My Problem Just An Excuse?

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 7:22

Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action.

O-bservation:

Stephen was one of the first seven deacons appointed by the Apostles in the Early Church. When he spoke before the Sanhedrin, Israel’s ruling religious order, he mentioned that Moses was a man of powerful SPEECH and wisdom.

A-pplication:

Everything in Stephen’s speech is accurate except this one line that draws into question that premise. We remember that when God spoke to Moses at the burning bush, telling him to lead His people out of Egypt’s bondage, Moses said he couldn’t do it because he had a speech impediment. God said that his brother Aaron would go with him and be his spokesperson. Moses went on to become the greatest leader outside of Jesus to ever walk the earth. AND, we never hear of Aaron ever interpreting Moses’ words after his encounters with the Pharaoh. Was Moses’ problem really an excuse to get out of the call of God? Stephen, the historian, never mentioned Moses’ speech problem. In fact, Stephen said he had “Powerful Speech.” Whatever the answer to that question, we must make sure today that before offering an excuse to the Lord when He speaks to us, we first of all ask, “Is My Problem Just An Excuse?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Sometimes the things You ask me to do cause me to be afraid. Help me gather faith to combat that fear and not make an excuse. Amen
