If I Were You …

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Job 5:8

But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.

O-bservation:

These are the words of Eliphaz, Job’s friend. After the calamity came upon Job that is known throughout the ages, this man (a friend) said to Job, “If I Were You I would lay my cause before the Lord.”

A-pplication:

Sometimes when you don’t know what to say you go ahead and say it anyway. Eliphaz, along with two other friends, had sat with Job for seven days with no one saying a word. Job finally began to speak as though completely lost. After he was finished, Eliphaz encouraged him to appeal to God and lay his cause before him. These are the best words of advice you and I will ever hear. Even if you feel, like Job did, that God played a role in your present helplessness, STILL … appeal to the Lord. He’s your ultimate source of help today and every day! So the next time a friend comes to you in need, start with these words: “If I Were You …”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

No matter what I face today, I will appeal my cause before You! Only You can help me maneuver through my present situation. Amen
