I Never Want To Give You Up
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 6:10
Then I would still have this consolation—my joy in unrelenting pain—that I had not denied the words of the Holy One.
O-bservation:
Job had reached the breaking point. Everything that could go wrong for one man had gone wrong for Job. If you can believe this, in the previous verse, Job asked God to kill him! Why did he ask God to do such a thing? It was because he did not want to deny his God. He didn’t want to turn on Him, and he was at his breaking point. In this verse, he acknowledged to God, “I Never Want To Give You Up!”
A-pplication:
I can’t relate to Job’s pain, but I can relate to Job’s love for God. The Almighty had been so good to Job that whatever happened to him, he did not want to deny his faith. There is a wonderful promise in the New Testament, where St. Paul tells the church at Corinth, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Cor. 10:13). That New Testament promise had already been tested in the Old Testament story of Job. Somehow, he received enough grace from heaven that he was able to bear up under the weight of his pain. So that in the end, he was able to say to the Lord, “I Never Want To Give You Up!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I want to be strong for You, my God. I know that the only way I can accomplish that is if you will give me the strength so I can be strong for You! With Your help, “I Never Want To Give You Up!” Amen
