I Don’t Want To Come Back Empty

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ruth 1:21a

I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty.

O-bservation:

These were the words of Naomi to her daughter-in-law Ruth when she returned to her homeland of Israel from Moab.

A-pplication:

Have you ever made a certain move at a given point that seemed like the right thing to do, but later on it turned out to be something less than what you were hoping for? That’s pretty much what happened to Naomi. After a series of terrible misfortunes, she headed out of Moab (Satan’s Territory) and back home to Israel. She said to her daughter-in-law Ruth, “I came here full, but I’m going home empty.” Sometimes the moves we make appear wise in the beginning, but in the end a “do over” seems in order. Fortunately, God worked it out for Naomi in a miraculous way. But as I read this story I always ask the Lord, “Help me follow Your will, Jesus. I Don’t Want To Come Back Empty.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’ll say it again … “I Don’t Want To Come Back Empty.” Amen
